أخي الكريم ، انا عم حضر لامتحان الـ IQE من حوالي سنة ونصف ، الامتحان (على النمط القديم) مكون من 3 أجزاء : الأول نظري ، والثاني على أسنان صناعية بلاستيكية ، والثالث على مريض حقيقي مع مقابلة شفهية وامتحان نظري ، هذا الكلام كان سابقاً أما حالياً فإن نقابة طب الأسنان البريطانية GDC تدرس تغيير الامتحان لجعله جزئين الأول منهما يمكن تقديمه خارج بريطانيا حيث كان الامتحان بشكله السابق غير ممكن إلا في إنجلترا وبلندن حصراً ، حيث تم توقيف استلام استمارات الطلب للامتحان منذ شهر ابريل 2006 ولحد الآن لأنهم كما ذكرت يدرسون التغييرات على الامتحان .. عموماً يمكنك قراء المزيد حول التغييرت وحل الامتحان بالضغط هنا ..

هلق لو ردنا نعمل مقارنة مع الـ MFDS :

لو كنت حاملاً للجنسية البريطانية او الأوروبية فأنصحك مباشرة بالـ MFDS كون المجال متاح لك كبريطاني أو أوروبي لأخذ وظيفة شاغرة في المشفى قبل وأثناء تقديمك للـ MFDS والتي هي من شروط دخول وإكمال الامتحان وإنهائه.

أما إذا لم تكن حاملاً للجنسية البريطانية أو الأوروبية (مثلي) فينصح تقديم الـ IQE أولاً من أجل التسجيل الدائم مع النقابة والعمل كممارس عام في أحد المستوصفات النسية ريثما تصحلك الفرصة في أحد المشافي وإلبدء بالـ MFDS عندها لأنه شرط رئيسي للدخول في مرحلة الاختصاص (طبعاً بجوز تشتغل لمدة سنة أو سنتين كممارس عام حتى يزبط معك وظيفة شاغرة غير مطلوبة من بريطاني أو أوروبي في مشفى) ..

امتحان الــ IQE أصعب من الـMFDS بدون شك .. ويجب عليك لتقديم الـ IQE اجتياز الـ IELTS بنتيجة 7 overall بما لايقل عن 6.5 في قسم منه .. كما أن الـ IQE هو امتحان شامل لجميع المعلومات النظرية المهمة لطبيبب الأسنان من تشريح وفيزيولوجيا وأدوية وأمراض داخلية (من وجهة نظر سنية) .. إلخ ، عكس الــ MFDS اللي بكون اختصاصي نوعاً ما ومعلوماته مو كتير صعبة ويمكن تقديم الـ MFDS في أحد الدول العربية (دبي مثلاً ويمكن القاهرة فيها أيضاً)..

بتمنى منك قراءة كل شيء حاطو أنا بالمنتدى عن الــ IQE ورح تفهم نظام الامتحان تماماً وبعدها إذا في عندك أي تساؤل فانا بكون بخدمتك .. والسلام ....

لكن ماذا سيحدث عن قريب الله وحده أعلم .. كل شيء سوف ينشر في بداية عام 2007 ..

International Qualifying Examination

The IQE tests the clinical skills and knowledge of dentists from outside the EEA whose qualifications are not recognised for full registration with GDC. Based on the UK dental curriculum, it is held at different venues throughout the year. Dentists who pass this examination become eligible to apply for full registration to practise in the UK.

Continued closure of admission to the IQE

Admission to the IQE (for new applicants) closed on 10 April 2006. Admission to the IQE will not re-open in 2006. This means we are not currently accepting new IQE applications. Those candidates who have already been accepted on the IQE are not affected. Please read on for further details.

A record number of IQE places have been made available for 2006. In spite of this, supply would still not have met demand for the exam this year. It was important to ensure that those already committed to the IQE could complete all three Parts. Therefore it became necessary to suspend admission to new applicants. More information on this decision is available from this website.

In March, the GDC agreed to reassess the situation formally by October 2006. The GDC Education Committee had sufficient information for its meeting in July to take the decision to not re-open admission to the exam in 2006. It was thought better for potential applicants to make known the situation as soon as possible.

A major factor is that a large volume of new applications was received in the six weeks before the deadline of 10 April 2006. With current waiting times, it is not possible to re-open admission to the exam in 2006. The Education Committee will reassess the situation at the beginning of 2007. By then, more information will be available on future capacity for the current IQE and the proposed new examination for overseas (non-EEA) dentists which may replace it. An announcement will be posted on this website by February 2007.

Please note the consultation stage for the proposed new examination closed on Friday 6 October 2006. The consultation is important to the GDC and its outcome will help inform future decisions on the proposal. Therefore, it is not yet possible to advise on details of the exam and when it will be available. Currently, the proposal is for the exam to be in two parts and it is scheduled to be implemented in the second half of 2007. Further details regarding the outcome of the consultation will be posted on this page as soon as possible.

Important information regarding changes to the recruitment of dentists

The Department of Health (England) has recently released a statement about changes to the recruitment of non-European Economic Area (EEA) dentists to the NHS. You can read the Department of Health's statement Here.

We advise overseas-qualified (non-EEA) dentists, who wish to take the IQE, to investigate the employment opportunities available to them on registration. As outlined in the statement, dentists who complete the IQE may now need to do up to a year’s Vocational Training (VT) in order to work for the NHS.

Success in the IQE is not a guarantee of employment or a VT place. For further advice on VT, please contact the primary care trust (PCT) or the postgraduate dental deanery where you wish to practise.

Pre-examination language test

Dentists applying to sit the IQE must demonstrate they have a good standard of English. Candidates are required to submit a single, Academic IELTS Test Report Form before entering the IQE.

The form must:


be no more than two years' old on receipt at the GDC

show a minimum overall band score of 7.0

show no score lower than 6.5 in any section

In sections where scores are given in whole numbers only, a minimum score of 7 is required. Dentists who are nationals of the EEA or entitled to be treated no less favourably than nationals of the EEA are exempt from the English language requirement. This is in accordance with European Law.

About the IQE:

The IQE was in three parts:


Part A comprises a written paper and an oral examination in clinically applied dental science; a written paper and an oral examination in clinically applied human disease. The Part A written paper will now be conducted on computers at an examination centre. Sample questions for the new computerised system are available here

Part B consists of an operative test on a dental manikin

Part C contains two written papers on all aspects of dentistry, an examination in clinical dentistry, an oral examination in general dentistry, a practical clinical examination and an examination in medical emergencies

The three Parts must be taken consecutively.

All written examinations take the form of Multiple Short Answer questions (MSAs). Neither part nor model papers are available.

Dentists who hold the MFDS (Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery); or have passed the Primary/Part I Examination of the FDS (Fellowship in Dental Surgery) of one of the Royal Surgical Colleges of the UK; or have passed an examination recognised as equivalent by the Dental Faculties of one of these Colleges; or have Part A of the Intercollegiate LDS (Licence in Dental Surgery) will be exempt from Part A.

Part B must be passed before candidates may attempt Part C. Parts B and C must be passed within eighteen months of each other, otherwise Part B must be retaken.
